Ritalin= NO Adderal= NO Me = diagnosed with ADHD by a highly skilled neurologist.
That medication only works for us because our neurological behaviour and response to the chemicals is altered by the ADHD. Ritalin for most people is just like drinking far too much coffee, it can make you jittery, easily distracted, and inefficient. Even for someone with the disorder a large dose can do that. Also, pharms have nasty side-effects. Ritalin causes loss of appetite (and does I guarantee you cause at least small weight loss) and also a shift towards anti-social, segregated tendencies while under the influence. Adderal, on the other hand, will usually just make a normal person groggy and somewhat lazy, as it is intended to be a deterrent to physical hyperactivity.
Your attitude towards school is very, very common. For most cases, barring the severe, a simple system of psychological motivation and self-improvement is enough to provide a sufficient improvement. Set goals, set timelines for those goals, and then reward yourself for sticking to it. That should help, or at least be a start.

Wormwood tea = The bomb for focus!
You could take the thujone in absinthe, but then you'll have to contend with the alcohol interfering with higher mental function. Great for writing long papers!
Weed = So/So
Great for some personal insight, but at the same time I find myself with enough motivation to get anything actually accomplished.
Salvia = Good....when used properly
I find salvia an excellent tool and aid for mental reconstruction, but don't expect it to write a paper for you in any way. However, after a semester or writing the first draft of a paper (which coincidentally is usually my last draft **shrugs**), I find a great inspiration and usually anti-depressive elements to a good trip.

depends what your studying I guess - I mean for motivating one to do boring shit I can't see drugs as helping really - unless you use it to reward yourself AFTER having done your homework. On the other hand If your studying visual arts or some such creative thing (creative writing maybe?) then psychedelics can be your best friend.
Even tho I'm pursuing my chosen path (vis art) I still procrastinate like a mother fucker - especially in theory stuff, - I've temporarily quit weed to see if that helps.
Maybe the question is what drugs I should STOP taking to make me study better, sobreity is a strange state of consciousness upon returning to it from a long departure but it's great for functioning properly in the physical real world. Especially if remembering shit is important u might wanna at least cut down weed use.

Being sober is a good way to function properly in the "real world". Interesting you say that because it took me awhile to figure that one out.

For those of you who suggested amphetamines as a way to get focused, I think this is a bad idea. I agree it will get you focused. It may even allow you to do better in school. But you gotta ask yourself, if you're so fucking BORED OUT OF YOU MIND that you need speed to take the prof seriously... Maybe you should reconsider your post-secondary eduction?
Psychedelics will not help you to study (lol no!) but they may, when used in moderation, get your priorities straight. That in turn may help you to be more interested in school.

getting priorities straight... actually I can attest to that. After coming down from a strong mescaline buzz I just laid down and thought about what I needed to get done for school, reminding myself that my education is important to me and that it's putting a down payment on my dream career. I normally never do that, it's more last-minute "Oh noes! paper due tomorrow!" stuff for the most part. So yes, in that aspect a properly used and respected psychedellic can help.

My personal use has launched an incredible interest in Sociology, Philosophy, Psycology, History, Quantum Mechanics, Meteorology, and many more.
like Drinkpunksoda said: "you may realize the importance of pursuing knowledge" in which case you will find it much easier to become interested in certain topics and you will not have such a resistance (if any) towards doing work and studying.

I like what you are saying here. My use of has really made me appreciate majors that I think are more "experiencing" like art, drama, rhetoric/speech, and physical stuff. Problem is I am over halfway done with college and my majors (mass communications/political science) don't really interest me. What does interest me in terms of reading is shit by Tim Leary, Ram Dass, and just about any spiritual thing or how to guide.

i may be a minority here but i often do get in the mood to do something constructive while on a psychedelic. I've often had the urge to do home work and even random math problems while tripping, and this is a big step away from my normal behavior.

wow, that is quite suprising to hear that. I've had random urges to accomplish things, they're not uncommon for me, but I've never had one while under the influence... of anything.
