Dead poo -> New poo
    #4701799 - 09/23/05 07:35 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

Hey guys,

I have a tin of lipa yai on horse poo that I started to fruit say a month and a half ago, it just stopped flushing (there are a few small pins but they aren't growing). I have 5lbs of tenn stud, do you think I can successfully transfer to the new poo by breaking up the old casing into it?

Thanks for the advice

I'm almost certain it would be fine, just wanted some of the more experienced to chime in with some wisdom

from what i have come to understand it will work.

scrape and rinse off your old casing layer and remove any pins. then chop or grate that colonized poo. you may want to leave a little of the colonized grated up poo to sprinkle on top of the new poo after you've mixed the rest. good luck and report results.

I've seen it work, and not work, so I wouldn't count on it if try it. Also, your yield will be less than if you just spawned the tennstud with fresh spawn as up to 50% of the nutrition base actually comes from the grain, not the poo.

But if you want to take a chance, then it can be done.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

OMG! are you serious? dose that mean i can go to my favorite mushroom field (which yields wild Gulf Coast), take a wild specimen of poo that im sure has mecyline in it and case it with other poo and it will revive life into it? Thus yielding mushrooms?

It's called 'superspawning' but if your substrate just stopped producing then I would advise against it whereas there is something wrong with the original substrate..more than likely contamination. Dont waste the Tennstud..start from the beginning.

I agree here. Unless you know for a fact that your not contaminated i wouldn't waist the effort.

On the topic of grabbing a colonized patty and spawning it.... the issue again is contamination. but if you have the ability to do an outdoor grow you could most likely use it.... mother nature makes growing shrooms much less tedious when it come to cleanliness and sterility

Hey bud,

Starting from the beginning isn't a possibility right now.

As for why it stopped flushing, it flushed for over a month and a half and is probably too low on nutes now to produce more fruits. I'm 95% sure no contams - doesn't have any smell to it and looks fine.

This would be about a 20% spawn rate also, I think itd have enough nutes from the poo, dontcha think?

The problem is I don't even have a stove at my new place, so I can't use the pessure cooker and I don't wanna do it at a friend's apartment because then they would know.

A fruited out substrate - is prone to contamination. Adding that to a fresh substrate is not a wise idea. It has worked, but - not often, or well. I would not waste my time - doing so. Fresh spawn - is FAR FAR better.

you can get an 800w heating element (like a single burner stove) at many wal/k marts in the $10-15 range. Use it on a heat safe surface. It's a little slower to bring up to pressure (most stoves are 1000w) but it does the job.
