Psylocibe Atlantis

Here are a few Psylocibe Atlantis that popped up near my backyard Weilii patches about three weeks ago after the last rain...These four produced a very intense, high visual trip that lasted about three hours...It was my first time eating Atlantis, and my third time finding them...They may be an unknown species but they smell alot like weilii with more of a fruity smell. They taste very strong but pleasant. I would like to know if I'm right because my sources tell me that these were Psylocibe Atlantis...This was the only pic of them I took...You can see the blue bruising on the stems.

Kinda look like the ones I find (listed in my pics). I woulden't say mine are atlantis but they could very well be.
I know what you mean about them tasting very strong, to me they have that same weilii taste only more concentrated. They also smell exactly like weilii.
-------------------- I went to st thomas and camped out ontop of the island... Despite my entire family being poor all my life, the land is priceless. I was chased by haitians in the main city charlotte amalie when my girlfriend and I got some cocaine for free in a bar and mixed it with alcohol, to form a stronger drug. With such confidence at 2am, we walked the 4-5 or so miles down to the beach where the african slaves lie like lions waiting on tourist prey. The war isen't on drugs... the war is on the causes that influence people to abuse drugs. drug-abuse is a by-product of the system and much like radioactive waste occurs from utilizing nuclear power, drug addicts with drug-problems will need to be properly disposed of, like the decaying radioactive waste produced from nuclear energy. -i2ancid

Nice finds shroomer jon in fact they do look alot like atlantis to me. Ive found them on two occasions as well and the weilii just dont produce stems that skinny or atleast ive never found any that skinny and the top of the stem where they attach to the cap is more of a rusty color as well. The cap itself is a little different shade too so i do think ur right with your assumption that they are atlantis and if not a sub species of the weilii(which i think is what the atlantis is anyway). In my opinion from experience ive found three very different mushrooms one the weilii, two the atlantis and three one i think is lizards species unnamed all of which have resembling characteristics but are different...

Damn it this is frustrating! We have WAY too many unnamed Psilocybe species in Georgia. Someone needs to come in here and sort this whole mess out; start gettin' some species named, or at least some complexes of species. Come to think of it, all of the unnamed mushrooms around here look very similar to Psilocybe weilii... I propose that these actives be thrown into the newly proclaimed Psilocybe weilii complex.

Out of all these pics, MagicRooms has the pic of the species that mostly resembles mine...They look like they are the exact same species..Tell me magicrooms, Did you find these in fescue grass? Mine were found in fescue grass and I was just wondering what kind of habitat you found yours in...Thanks Jon

And DAMN! Are you in Sydney as well? If you found those in Sydney then that is really weird cuz they look exactly like mine, and mine were found in Cherokee County Georgia...Did you eat them? And Have you ever found weilii to where you can compare the smell? Thanks magicrooms!

I found these Psilocybe mushrooms in the same fields i found my Copelandia cyanescens in but they didn't grow on manure like the copes they were growing from the soil. The older ones never expanded and always had parabolic shaped caps. They had a distinct brown colour all over with blue stained stems unlike the copes that were white and gold with blues patches across the caps.
Yes I do live in Sydney Australia and it's freaky how close they resemble your find. I hope you can find some more and sort out the exact Genus and Species.

Species check!
If they are in fact hte same species then we could be witnessing the next intercontinental spore exchange. The first such natural occurence that i'm aware of since the cubes came to America. But i'm not thinking too hard right now, so i'm sure there are much more previous examples out there.

Wow...I'm pretty damn sure I will find more within the next three days due to all this rain we are getting from Rita. It rained all last nite and all day today so I highly believe we will see the first good flush of weilii this season...and I have sooooo many places to check..woods and residential. I can't wait till I go probably tomorrow evening to a few spots and wednesday to a few spots....and thursday to my woods spots cuz they grow huge under pinestraw... I'm sure I will come across another patch cuz I have found them on three or four different occasions and at different locations...good luck to all hunting weilii in and around cherokee...and I'd say wednesday is the day to go and then thursday if u can't do it wed. Peace out all!

You are completely right! I've found Weilii & Atlantis species that look totally different from others. Shape, color, size, & ratio, all look different from what I was accostomed to. Obvious part, they turn blue. My experience with P. Cubensis hunting showed me that things can be the same but different but P. Weilii seems like its steadily changinging its structure. I find cute little bottle caps, cone shaped caps, huge wavy caps, wierd white caps that I would walk by without a second glance, etc. Never saw that a couple of years ago - I think these things are evolving.
PS has anyone noticed a mushroom that looked a lot like P. Cubensis or P. Weilii that grows in grass, has the same color/striping of the stem of Weilii, but hairy cap & doesnt stain? It looks really pretty but isnt anything I know of.

Yes, please don't bump the old threads. It makes the rust fall off and you confuse the hell out of the old people.
