There have been several different opinions as far as reomoving foil and or tape from top of pf jars while incubating. Should i remove the tape, but keep foil on while incubatin - and will this removal of tape assist in speeding up colonozation because it allows any excess co2 to escape?

I really don't know why this has become such a huge issue lately. I've seen about 10 posts about it in the past couple days. If you have a dry top vermiculite layer, then YES you can take the tape and the foil off or you can leave it on. I usually left my jars alone with the tape and foil on and they still colonized great. It REALLY is not a big deal either way. All this talk about PF jars not colonizing if you don't take the tape off is nonsense. Taking the tape off speeds colonization, but it's not going to make or break the deal.

Why add filter discs to PF jars? There is a dry vermiculite layer that acts as a filter already.
