time capsules
    #4698223 - 09/23/05 01:06 AM (11 years, 2 months ago)

Whenever I listen to music, alot of my music reminds me of a certain time in my life. Each song is like a time capsule that holds a vivid specific memory or emotion that took place in life.
I find trance is especially good for that, because there are no words to distract you from conotating events from your own life with the song. (If that makes sense) Im sure we all have our ways of remembering past events, this seems to be the strongest for me.

also I been meaning to talk about colors and music. Im sure alot of people get this. When you hear a song and it brings out a sense of a color. For example, yahel-regesh, purple. I think its amazing what music can do. I usually dont get colors with rock or stuff like that. Its always trance. Thats why I have exploded into psy trance. I find it utterly amazing. Psy trance can get so deep, as if the artist put a certain sounds in a specific order to trigger a thought and make you feel something, or think it.

I dunno, I just wanted to talk bout music.

What ye all think

Yaaa dude I know exactly what you mean about songs and memories. Me and a friend had a discussion about that a while back, pretty cool.
Smells also give me major memory flashbacks of say like a certain girl I knew or my grandmas old house from 15 years ago, or a childhood friends house.
I love catching a whiff of some ancient memory.

I don't know if i've ever really experienced a song having a certain color, but I don't know if i've ever really thought about it.  Although Ween has a definite Brown color to almost all their music. heheh

Nice topic man, very interesting stuff.

oh yea i love psy-trance
Got any suggestions? I haven't heard a lot but I really like infected mushroom and goa gil  :dj:

we all make associations like this everyday. I tend to catch myself doing it too, so I think about it a lot. Id really like to learn about the neuroscience of it, apparently each association is a connection of neurons that fire simultaneously or some shit.

But one good example is how everytime I hear this one NIN song, it reminds me of when I got in a car accident while listening to it.

Time capsule is a good word to describe it

i'd like to make a time capsule that was rigged with explosives to go off when opened. That would really surprise mofos
