Mushroom id?
    #4696340 - 09/22/05 07:15 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

Habitat: I?ve found them growing on a guinea pig?s bed, set of journal paper (on the bed?s floor) + straw pellets + hay + guinea pig droppings (a lot) + top litter (bark, moss, birch leaves, birch brushwood)
Characteristics of the gills: (see pics)
Characteristics of the stem: hollow stem (see pics)
Characteristics of the cap: (see pics)
Spore print color: black (see pics)
Color that the mushroom bruises: apparently none
Scent of the mushroom: didn?t smell the mushroom
Anything else you might find important: it seems to me near Coprinus genus (just guess), when mature the cap starts to open and dissolving into ink from outside to inside.

Habitat: I?ve found them growing on pinecones near wood trails, surrounding trees are mostly pines and oaks, ground full of leaves?
Characteristics of the gills: white (see pics)
Characteristics of the stem: light pink (see pics)
Characteristics of the cap: light brown (see pics)
Spore print color: white
Color that the mushroom bruises: apparently none
Scent of the mushroom: didn?t smell the mushroom

PS- i'm slightly colour-blind so apologize if any bad color consideration.

"I experimented with marijuana a time or two, and I didn't like it. I didn't inhale, and never tried it again." Bill Clinton

"A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly fifteen hundred pounds of marijuana within about 15 minutes to induce a lethal response... In strict medical terms, marijuana is far safer than many of the foods we commonly consume. For example, eating ten raw potatoes can result in a toxic response. By comparison, it is physically impossible to eat enough marijuana to induce death."

That first one is a Coprinus, and the second looks like a Mycena. You probably need a microscope to ID them accurately to species.

Happy mushrooming!

the coprinus appears to be coprinus lagopus, the wooly inky cap. the second i have no clue but probably is a mycena species. looks very cool though, sort of waxy capped. the texture of the second mushroom, as well as its color, slightly remind me of a snake of some sort, possibly a boa.
