i was wondering when i inoc my jars and leave them to colonize should the jars be screwed tight with holes blocked? or left not so tightly screwed on with holes blocked? Thanks

tight with holes open.... the holes are there for air circulation..... the holes should only be blocked if you do not have ramsey seal or a dry verm layer.

ok. on the pf tek it says to tightly seal and tape the wholes shut. can i do it that way and just flip the jars every couple days to get air exchange? or do you suggest i do it the way you said? Thanks

A lid that is loose will suffice. Screwed down tight will only hamper what is natural.

Lid band loose and tape on while pc'ing. As soon as jars come out tighten lids. Wait to cool. Peel back tape just enough to innoc, then put it back covering the holes. When the jars are colonized most of the way around the top, take off tape completely, flip jar upside down and whack straight down onto a book or newsparer, leave it in this upside down position until colonization is complete.

I agree completely with Olgualion... when they are getting close to being completely colonized remove tape and flip.
