Self Improvement Books
    #4691421 - 09/21/05 05:48 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

Anyone consider themselves a self-improver? That is, do you go out of your way on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis to make yourself better in some aspect? Read any good books on self-improvement?

I've been on a kick to reinvent myself lately. I think I've become really really lazy in college. I'd like to get back in shape again. In general, I would just want to become a more socialable, healthier, happier human being. I've been thinking about ordering some self-improvement books from Amazon, but usually it seems you can find most of that information just doing a google search.

I feel overwhelmed because I am looking at the whole me and what I want to change. Is there a good or generally accepted place where to start when changing ones behavior? I have been working on my diet for the last few months, still not perfect but its miles better than when I ate all my meals out of box. I'm not sure if I should work on my social behavior or my activity level next.... or whether I should take on both simultaneously little by little.

I think step by step would be best or you might get overwhelmed.

I have problems with self improvement, I can't stay positive. Once I get a negative feeling I lose all progress, then I don't feel like trying anymore. I don't know how to get better at this either.

Try reading "as a man thinketh", by James Allan.

or "the art of happiness", by the dalai lama and Howard Cutler.

Ive been listening to allot of Anthony Robbins lately, very good motivation speaker. Also Paul McKenna is very good to listen to. I seriously don't like reading books. :frown:

I'm the same. I bought some of those "white noise" CDs or something similar that has built in brain waves (Beta, Alpha, Theta) and they help you concentrate. I've gotten through a good load of books with it. You should try them out.

Reading of any sort is good. Helps you build up good vocabulary and general intelligence.

I'm going to get that Ken Keyes book. Sounds interesting.
