A couple pictures from Highlands Hammock S.P.

Hello shroomers,

--GG finally went to Highlands Hammock (the location which Psilocybe mamillita was first discovered). Nice park, ..in Highland county florida.

Heres a couple pics;

the first one i have yet to identify what they were--



and secondly, an enormous "Old man of the woods",
a fine Edible.
--This particular one had a fat 8 inch cap.

I think you found your first Amanita muscaira in the flesh :P
They look like small Amanita musciara vaf. formosa, the only thing that is odd is that the larger one has a pointy cap.

You have you're computer back up and running GG?

Hey Gumby - ..confusing picture..

You may be correct with saying Amanita muscaria var. formosa..but only with the one sitting up.. the other two mushrooms with the pointy caps were actually another species of mushroom, but we gathered the three specimens in close proximity to eachother so, all three were photographed. :|

Anyways, it was a fun place.

I had to re read that. Highland county. I did not think there were highlands in Florida. Just a name hey? GGreat photo. the cloud reflection on the car finishes it off. I have seen similar mushies in QLD.

Hey I've been down there before! Never had the pleasure to mushroom hunt there tho.I do remember seeing lotsa gators!!

hehehe yeah, up in the highlands,
we could have sworn are ears were popping from adjusting to the higher altitude up there,
-or maybe that the was shrooms in the bellies!!~
