The next president
    #4691833 - 09/21/05 09:14 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

Hypothetically, if you could pick anyone to be the next president of the U.S, who would it be?

I vote General Tommy Franks.

I wouldn't give someone that much leeway just for running as a libertarian. Howard Stern once ran as a Libertarian candidate for governor of New York.

Some libertarians are really whacky. I remember right before the Iraq invasion there was a photo of libertarians protesting the war, and on their signs it read,

"No war in Iraq, CUT TAXES!"

Ughh... ok !

Chomsky with Zinn as his VP.

Realistically, with our current farce of an election system: John McCain or Jesse Ventura.

You know what I mean. The topic is about Presidents, so I would be supporting the Libertarian nominee, who I would imagine wouldn't be Howard Stern.

I don't see what's wacky about cutting taxes or not having a war in Iraq.

When I look back at some of the videos of Michael Badnarik, I have to say that he made some pretty fucking stupid statements. I'd still vote for him over most Democrats or Republicans, but I'd plug my nose as I did so, and since he would have no chance of getting elected anyway, I probably would just not vote for any of the candidates. I feel the same way about Harry Browne. I'd only vote for an intelligent Libertarian.

A significant event in American history, and the history of the world was about to take place. Both sides had emotions running high and the world was looking on to see what would unfold.

But the libertarians seemed more concerned with taxes than an actual reason to oppose the war. It was just a weird sign that was posted on lp.org and it struck me as space cadetish.

The sign was diametrically opposed in relevance.

Yeah, that is pretty weak. It just shows that people, no matter what political affiliation, can be absolutely retarded.

Kinda like me not understanding what you were trying to say.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. The high public expense of war is a valid reason to oppose it. Even having it explained to me, I still think it's a sensible sign.
