New Perlite Inbetween Flushes?
    #4687893 - 09/20/05 10:58 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

Few Questions:

1) Is it necessary to change the perlite inbetween flushes?

2) Is using a bic lighter ok for sterilizing the syringe (some guides only mentioned a bic lighter where as others said it was no biggie and some even said dont even think of using one)?

3) Last one, If i decide to use Peroxide in the perlite, is there a way to measure how much or is it a few "glugs" as i saw in another post. Im growing cakes not casing so i dont know if that changes anything...

THANK U!  :mushroom2:

1. No

2. Yes, but it will leave black soot on the needle. Use a paper towel with alcohol to wipe it.

3. You don't need to put much peroxide in the water. 1 or 2 "glugs" should be fine

Good Luck!

Room temp works, but the consensus is "cold shock." Put them in the fridge while dunking for 12-24 hours.

EDIT: I wish people would make up thier minds. It seems cold shock isn't used that much.

Cold shock isn't needed but it can still help trigger pins just as a cold front comes in just before the storm. "Cold shock" is more for cold weather species "temp drop" is a pinning trigger for cubies as well just not as extreme.
