What's better:

Substrate: Rye grain vs. Birdseed

Casing: 50/50 vs. Vermiculite

I appreciate your opinions and plan to use this information as soon as my spores get here...Thanks

hello friend,

I use both wheat ( witch is like rye) and finch seed. they both work great but wheat is easier to work with.

I have used both 50/50 and verm. verm contams less, but 50/50 holds more water.

these are the pro's and cons.
