so i knew i'd be in for a graphing calculator eventualy, so spring quarter i got a ti-89, since it was suppost to be better than the 83's and such, and one kid who actualy had a calculus class was like "oh, is that a 89... those are nice" so i was all proud that i paid the few extra bucks.. i think i got it for like 90-95 or so, (maybe) brand new from ebay...
anyway, i started my pre-calc class yesterday, and he's talking about all the normal first day stuff, and is like "if you have a 89, or a 91, you cant use it on tests... " something to do with it bieng a symbolic calculator.. so it's hella lame, now i need to find a freakin 83 or 84... they rent them out for $22 at the school, which is hella lame, but i'm gonna have to do it..
alternatively, does anyone have a graphing calculator they can lend me for the quarter? or maybe give me? i so dont want to have to spend the cash on it right now.. .its way lame..

I'm drinking away the homework I was supposed to do tonight... looks like tomorrow will be a big day of homework for me
calculus with a symbolic calculator is nothing, if I remember those days, the 89 was designed for solving calculus functions. I have an old ass 85 from at least 10 yrs ago. Still gets used all the time, it's within 5 feet of me

the first few weeks of school suck... no motivation for homework and the due date doesn't get any further away. tomorrow night I'll learn my lesson about procrastinating.

just dont advertise your fancy calc and use it anyway... never listen to those bastards.. just use ur ti89.
ive been there calcI and calcII, university physics A and B and if i had a ti89 i'd use it to the fullest regardless of whatever anyone said.

good point... just use it, sit in the back or way to the side... you didn't pay almost $100 for some rich bastard to tell you what calculator to use

Get the TI-85. It is better than the 83/84. It also doesn't do symbolic shit so you can use it on tests. I have one that I haven't used in years.

i don't recommend taking the advice of "just use your 89"
there are strict regulations in certain testing- your teacher likely did not make up the rules.
sucks, but what can you do?

that would be sweet...
i asked my buddy at work today if he 'just happend to have a spare graphing calculator laying around" and he's like "yea, i do" and we made arrangements for me to borrow it, or maybe buy it, and then i was like "sweet" so then i was like "didnt your wife just start school again? is she gonna need it?" so he was like 'oh yea, i'll call her'.. so he did, and sure enough, she's gonna use it
