Hardwood bark mulch

The landscaping store sells big bags of this for 5 bucks. It's not that sort of fibrous mulch, these are dry and brittle and relatively strong. Can this be used as a substrate for woodlovers? The bark is oak, I believe.

Thanks.

It could probably work with some success. It would probably be much better if only used as part of a substrate, not the entire substrate itself. In general wood is much better than bark. In my area though, the landscaping stores sell big bags of "hardwood mulch" which does work just fine.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.
