how important is it to adjust the ph level? when does the ph ususally need to be adjusted in the casing method? also how is the lime stone added to the casing?

I get heavier pinsets with lime, you can still have good results without it, I mix mine at the same time I mix the vermiculite and peat together.

Do you ground your lime?

First off. What type of casing material are you using?

LOL, naw man, like what will the ingredients be that you will use to put on top of your colonized substrate? As in coir, verm, peat, etc.

Regardless, you want to adjust your pH. Are you really into this for the maybe I can get by, or do you want to do it right?

Use a 50/50 mix of peat/verm, add lime at 5-10% the volume of the peat and you'll be fine. Do not use hydrated lime, pickling lime, or dolomitic lime. Lab grade calcium carbonate and powdered oyster shells can both be used as lime if the lime at your garden center/farmer supply isn't suitable.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.
