I don't say yes.
    #4685525 - 09/20/05 09:01 AM (18 years, 6 months ago)

Or no. I don't agree or disagree. I was walking and thinking how all these years of efforts to change myself have had noone effect.

I realized that there was nothing left but surrendering. Life just brings me things. I don't say yes or no, I don't agree or disagree. It's the middle path of just living and not trying to be anything. Just living. Anyone see WTF I'm talking about? It's just dawning on me what has happened. I'm not going anywhere. :mushroom2:

the whole issue of getting into the moment is about dealing lightly with what has already happenned; so what if it's all old news.

Perhaps the truth is that we are as perfect as we will ever be, and we are already at our destination.

Efforts to improve or move are distractions from the wonder of the real.

So why don't I just lay here in my bed and not eat anything?

I see what ya'll are saying and I like the idea. But there are other ideas one should get before accepting this one....other wise this might fuel people to just keep living the way they are and sort of justify it for them.

IMO the biggest reason people live unhappy and unhealthy lives is because they judge themselves harshly, and feel they do not deserve to be treated with respect and care. (Even by themselves!)

IF they could accept and honor themselves right where they are NOW, I believe that they would be inspired to live, rather than feeling obligated to trudge onward toward the shining day when they will finally be worth something.

sometimes you should lie there till you are satisfied

sometimes you should not eat anything - especially if too fat to get out of bed

We are already waiting at the bus stop on ourselves.
Perhaps the reason there is so much hate in this world is because we are there at the end, it is already over. Not much to do except become cynical and doubt everything about our infinte selves.

That is the side I am on :sun:, it just seems that most people are stuck in the rut of denial.

One of the most difficult things for me is accepting that I cannot do anything for "most people."  My aim is to enjoy my own life to the fullest extent possible, and allow others to choose their own path.

It's getting worse and worse here. Western neoliberal and neocapitalistic systems eat the world and their people. Suffering rises and rises. Future positive aspects getting smaller and smaller.
I wont watch this, doing nothing. I am here in the cave of the lion, trying not to wake him, enforcing the restistance and the awakening of victims.

I say YES and NO, and I like it.

MJF,

Ice is getting ready to retire.

Ice,

Your efforts have made an effect. They have allowed you to spend so much time here at S&P at your age and to retire a tad earlier then most. What are you talking about, no effect?

He forgets this board is made up mostly of 18-22 year olds.

Were he to remember that, I don't think or hope he was advising you all to quit school, quit your jobs, stay at home or move back in with mom and dad and just mooch off them couch potatoing it and let the wonder come to you.

Ice, would you clarify that for the 18-24 year olds please?

Experiment you guys, stay neutral about everything for a week. You are not allowed to say yes in agreement or no in disagreement to anything and see what happens. No effort can be made towards any yays or nays.

This is called, "The experiment of the human vegetable". Please post your results a week from now.

I hope that when a car comes right at you during one of your walks, that you get out of the way and don't 'just surrender' to it!

LOL

I don't think this thread has anything to do with retiring, unless it is retiring from the exhausting job of neurotic self-improvement efforts.

The ability to relax into the uncontrollable events of our life does not have an age limit. (minimum or maximum)

Surrendering to the things which are out of your control does not mean becoming a parasite or couch potato. (or getting hit by a car!)

Realizing that we are not privy to the "big picture" shows us that having a temper tantrum about our circumstances is foolish and wastes our precious life energy.

Whether you are 18 or 88, IMO it is never too early or late to start surrendering.

You're not getting what I'm talking about. Veritas you got it.

It a realizing that life isn't built around you. You think about yourself incessently but "you" aren't real. It's all been done already. All that's left is shedding your skin. Then you watch the actor, acting his/her part in the passion play. You're dead already but you can't believe it's true. Do you see WTF I'm talking about? It has nothing to do with what you do or don't do. It's neither yes or no.  :mushroom2:

Thanks for clarifying for Ice. If you reread his post, it didnn't come out that way. He did say that all of his efforts got him no effect.

Surrendering to the things which are out of your control ...

Perhaps we only THINK they are out of our control due to our limited knowledge. How many obese people do you hear say, 'Well it is not my fault. It is due to genetics,"?
