automatic drip irrigation system
    #4685000 - 09/20/05 02:54 AM (11 years, 8 months ago)

I am thinking of buying an automated plant watering system for when I'm away from my plants. The two I like best are:
http://www.intwoplaces.com/oasis.htm
http://www.mossproducts.com.au/WateringSystems/productrange/overview-aquasmart.htm

The second one is from australia so I think it's out of the question. But looking at those two models you should know approx what I'm looking for.

Something that has a reservoir, an electric pump and a timer/moisture sensor. If any of you here can give me some advice or information on your own auto drip systems I would appreciate it.

(PS - I LOOOOOOOVE the stuff from SunlightSheds but it is a bit out of my league. My price range is <$200.)

Those 2 systems look pretty good, maybe go here and look around, they have a lot of different stuff, you might like www.wormsway.com.
If you have access to a faucet, you can make your own, with a digital timer, a mist emmitter set, and misters.

one of my guild-mates in world of warcraft works at sunlight sheds, and thanks to him I located some options that are actually not too expensive. You just have to look around for the individual merchandise as opposed to the complete kits, which are indeed rather expensive.

I have to get to english 101 in a few minutes... when I return I'll look around sunlight sheds' website and look for something inexpensive that might work for you... if I don't find anything, I'll let you know

*Edit* well lightning knocked power out, no classes for me today!

I've hunted around the sunlight sheds' site and realized I was a bit mistaken, they do indeed have a rather small number of things of reasonable pricing... and nothing that's  drip irrigation

But, after checking out the system you linked (the first one) I would say it looks like a pretty decent option. Especially considering that it can accomodate up to 20 different plants. I'd say you've found a decent option. I'm actually nearly sold on buying one for myself now  :tongue2:

Thanks for checking around for me.

SunLight Sheds is... is... there is no word I know of that does justice to the sheer coolness of their set-ups. But I can't afford to pay 4 months rent for a grow chamber (right now). In the perfect world I would but oh well.

I like the first link the best, I think I'm going to order in a few weeks. I'll keep you posted on how it works out for me.

sunlight makes money by assembling the components into
a package on your behalf.

I wonder what the savings would be if you were to procure
the individual components yourself...

You would cut your costs by atleast half.

Also, some substitutions that would hardly detract from a growing chamber's quality would noticeably cheapen it. The chamber itself for instance... theirs are fabricated for that purpose... but any sort of cabinet or sturdy box-like object would work. Line it with tin-foil and try not to wrinkle it too badly... maybe insulate it if you so desire. Attach a computer case fan or two for active cooling. You get the idea, I'm sure
