A Question About Substrates...

I am going to use Magash's grain tek for my grow, however I wasn't able to find rye at the whole foods market near me. Instead, I got millet (6lbs), popcorn (4lbs), and wheat berries (4lbs). I know that I can use millet and popcorn for my grow, but what about the wheat berries? I know they're an ingredient in WBS so I figured it would work. Am I right about this?
Should I mix the three grains together (2 parts millet, 1 part popcorn, 1 part wheat) or should I try them each separately, in separate jars? Knowing that popcorn and millet work already, would it be a bad idea to try the wheat, or has someone out there had some success with it?
Also, would there be any way to prepare the jars, not described in Magash's tek? I am planning to just soak the grain, simmer it so it takes in water, and then PC the jars. Is there anything else I should do, since I'm not using rye?
Please help. Thanks in advance.

hell yeah mix them together how ever you want. the nutrients are there and they will all work, i don't see a problem. personally i would just mix them all together evenly (1:1:1) but you can mix them however you want. Experiment, that is the fun in this hobbie.
make sure you strain the seed very very well or by week three you will have a wet cake and a pool of water in the bottom of the jar. i usually strain for an hour to an hour and a half and use a few paper towels to stir seed around to dry up the remaining water on the outside of the seed.

and also, should i soak them, or just go straight to the simmering? i know Magash said to soak the rye because its covered in dust (and bacteria) so the bacteria can germinate and be killed by the pc, but im not sure if its the same with the grains i'm using.

i just simmer for 30-40 minutes and strain while it's hot(kinda helps lose some of the excess water). i can't stress the straining enough. my first run with birdseed was a disaster(too much water).

sorry to keep adding onto this, but I've never worked much with grains before. Should I simmer each grain separately and then mix, or mix them all and then simmer? I know different grains absorb the water differently and I don't want some to burst while the others aren't ready yet.

i mix them before simmering. 30-40 minutes of simmering will only burst a few seeds but that is to be expected with any grain you will work with. the beauty of the seeds absorbing differently is that if some have too much moisture the others will absorb it. currently i have been experimenting with mixing rye and bird seed.
