pedros in zone 10a
    #4681243 - 09/19/05 11:26 AM (11 years, 5 months ago)

I found a local nursery that is selling
tall (+3') pachanois for 19.95.

nice!

is it advisable to attempt to take cuttings
and repot this late in the season?

I'm hoping to get them sufficiently rooted
in preparation for spring time grafts.

your guidance is appreciated.

would they be growing indoors or outdoors?
what temps are the norm for your area during the next few months?

I'm a 9b/10a

we'll get an indian summer with temperate weather
and sun until october, early nov.

then it turns to a little rain.

so cal coast.

honestly, I think it's fine, I just have found lots
of conflicting info in related threads on various
sites, but very little in the way of specifics regarding
whether or not it's safe/advisable to cut and repot
going into a quasi-dormant season directly.

Personally I always make my cuttings at the end of summer, like you are planning. They tend to develop a decent set of roots over winter if kept inside and then they are all ready to start crankin' it come spring. You don't miss out on any growing season. Doesn't hurt to wait till they've stopped growing, or at least slowed down a lot.
