lets pre-emptive strike

my fellow americans we must act now. there is a movement in this country of ultra conservative christians to relocate themselves to South Carolina. their plan is to create a theocratic local government combining church and state. not only is this a violation of the constitution, it is a dangerous situation. september 11th has showed us the perils of religous extremeism. many governments in the arab world are perfect examples of why americans must fear theocracy. our only choice is a pre-empative strike on religous extremist in south carolina and their churches. they may not have oil, but they have some decent beach front property. haliburton could make a killing in the rebuilding effort. please voice your support to your local congressman for this needed military action.

It has nothing to do with being liberal and everything to do with the fact that Vermont allows all citizens to carry and conceal weapons for self-defense.

Texas's conceal and carry laws are much stricter than Vermont's. In Vermont you don't even need a permit to carry.

Yup, no permit needed. I wish I lived there. It's one of the few states that doesn't have fucked up gun laws.

A specious statement. How would you begin to gather statistics about those who use a gun for self defense but do not report the incidents? From my personal knowledge of such episodes, the majority have gone unreported to government agencies. I am also curious how the actions of security guards and police officers who use guns in defense are taken into account.

if you own a gun its more likely to kill you , a friend or a family member than any criminal. i support the right to own guns, its your risk to take (much how i feel about drug use). however people on the right need to stop acting like guns are the answer to everything. many countries with stricter gun laws have much less crime. it just depends.

If you are careful and keep your guns in places where they can not be messed with, the chance of an accident is almost 0. Where people start to get problems is when they are dumb and don't practice safety or don't keep their guns locked up.

Due mostly to lack of education and training I suspect.

The point is not to kill a criminal but to stop him (if you have to kill him, oh well). Every incident of private citizens using a gun to thwart a crime where I personally knew the private citizen has been accomplished without firing a shot. I grew up around guns, the only times one killed a family member of anyone I knew was a suicide. A friend of mine was gunned down in the line of duty by someone who did not have a legal right to posses the firearm.

There are also countries with stricter gun laws that have more crime. Besides, how many people have been killed by people acting in the employ of GOVERNMENTS vs. those acting as private citizens?

During the 2004 primary, Kerry criticized Dean for going against the party line on gun control. In interviews, Dean was strongly supportive of the right to bear arms.

lol yeah this topic was on the daily show the other night, mostly funny but it could also be a little scary, i mean lets say these wackos get their way and end up having their own religious local government(is this even possible??) is there any chance this could spread or pose any other problems? i mean hell im all for the jesus freaks going and living in their own state, as long as their out of my hair...... but i wouldnt want it to explode into anything bigger. im not really sure what my opinion is yet because last week is the first time ive heard anything about it.
