aquarium feedback
    #467730 - 11/23/01 06:31 PM (22 years, 4 months ago)

This is gonna be my first time growing shrooms and i wanted to make sure my aquarium was set up right before i started teh substates. How does it look, good bad? Ill let air in there and mist a couple times a day. I heard that people put a layer of actual water down there with the perlite, should i do that? Also, some people said they set the cakes directly on the perlite... some feedback for my first batch, thanks guys!

Looks fine except my recommendation if you are using cakes would be to get rid of the wire mesh and eithe use your pint jar lids or put the cakes right on the perlite. My experience with cakes on wire mesh is that the shrooms will start growing out the bottom of the wire then back up toward the light. No big deal but not ideal.

If you put the cakes on the perlite you will not have to spray them. they will absorb the water from the perlite, they realy like that.

Turn your aquarium into a MaxiPod by turning it on it's side and by turning the lid into a swing door. This makes for much easier air exchange.
Make the swing door fit tightly and provide a good seal. As long as there is moisture on the inside walls of your MaxiPod, then the humidity is fine, prolly over 90%. If spraying, you shouldn't have to do it more than once every day or two.
