question about spore color

do all active mushies have the black/purplish color to the spore prints?

Yes. There are several genera that have actives in them.... they can be harder to identify and more of a risk to consume though. There is a list of all of the known active species on this site somewhere in the faqs i think. If not check mjshroomer's site.

Sorry for a late response but, I have found a patch of mushies took a cap and took a spore print. the spores came out a black with a small tint of purple in them. Too bad i don't have a microscope to check out the spores.

No. Not all active mushrooms have a black/purplish color to the spore prints.

most Psilocybe species have dark purplish brown spore prints.

Panaeolus and Copelandia species have black spore prints.

Gymnopilus species have rusty orange spore prints.

most Conocybe species have rusty brown spore prints.

most Inocybe species have brown spore prints.

most Pluteus species have pink spore prints.
