A question within a question
    #4675857 - 09/17/05 10:51 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

If you started reading a novel and someone came up to you and told you the end, would you still read the novel?

--------------------
What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

Yes, because I still wouldn't know the events that lead up to the end.

Actually, I usually don't purchase a book unless I plan on reading it several times. There have been a few times when I've even reread a book immediately after finishing it.

I see no reason why books should have less "replayability" value than, for instance, a film.

No, I don't even like to watch movies again because I already know whats going to happen.

i know what you mean about not purchasing books you only intend to read once, you finish it in a matter of hours and then you have no use for it after that.

hahaha I had to laugh! I always start books with the last page and then I read them backwards by chapters.

A question within a question, for an answer.... [Re: Murex]
    #4676961 - 09/18/05 07:51 AM (18 years, 6 months ago)

If you were to go to see the Mona Lisa for the very first time,
and someone came up and said "It is a painting of some chick" -
would you still want to see the painting for yourself....?

This happened to me back when the movie Titanic came out. Half way into the movie, my friend spoiled it for me... she said the ship sinks. I finished watching it anyway.

So the question within the question is, if you knew how your life would turn out would you still want to live it?

If you were to go to see the Mona Lisa for the very first time,

There is strong evidence that the painting is a Da Vinci self-portrait joke. The facial features are his, softened a bit with his hair and dress done in a feminine style.

The only thing I really care about in my life are a handful of moments I hold onto. So yes I would want to still live it for all the rest of those moments in between. Besides I already know how my lifes gonna end....I'm gonna die.

there were too many tourists for us to see anything in the louvre
and besides
the mold infested wooden floors affected my wife's allergies.
I would never have expected our visit to end that way.
