eating my plants

my horse's cow went to check on the cake she made unfortunatly nothing new, but when the cow looked at the plant that is also in the terrarium she found mycelium growing on the soil of her plant. the cow is 99% sure that it is mycelium; it has stringy "arms" and is bright white and smells like a mushroom. has anybody else had any thing like this happen to them and does anybody know how this may have happened, will it eat my plant (aloe vera)?????? the plant had a branch that fell off and was touching my cake but not where the fungus is growing
if anybody has any info or suggestions please reply, i would appreciate your help.
