Loading Linux Live (Knoppix)
    #4674181 - 09/17/05 03:34 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

A few hours ago i decided i would like to try and get to grips with Linux so i have a backup OS if windows fails. After downloading the 700MB file (700MB ISO and a few other files)

I burned all the files onto a CD and  restarted my computer, then tried to boot the CD from start up, but it said it couldn't find anything on the CD and carried on to load windows. I know i have made a big mistake somewhere, burned the CD wrong or downloaded the completely wrong files. ( Here is where i downloaded the files using the BT link)

I am a complete noob start to finish when it comes to Linux, i have never used nor loaded Linux on a system.

Can someone please explain how i am to load Linux using these files?

Apologize about this dumb ass post

First off, knoppix is not a installable operating system.
Its made to be run from the CD.
When you boot to it from the cd it creates a logical boot drive and your surfing and runnign is done from the cd.
When your finished using it take the cd out of your drive reboot your system and your back to windows xp or whatever you use.
