Moisture
    #4673646 - 09/17/05 12:32 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Hi everyone. Well, so far my grow has been successful. All 12 jars are colonizing and no contams, hopefully none at all. They are PF Tek BRF and verm. The only thing I changed was the water content when originally making jars; pf didn't seem to call for enough on this batch. I have a few jars that are between 75-85% colonized...they colonized the bottom fairly quickly and are working on the top now.

My situation: Some of the jars that are getting closer to full colonization are starting to have tiny water droplets building up around the very top of the glass. I do not believe that this is a mycelium waste product because it is clear. I did not know if this moisture sitting at the top would make the cakes more susceptible to contams, or if this was natural and is no big deal.

The cakes all look healthy and some of them are starting to get knots of mycellium forming all over, so I know I am getting closer. I just would like some advice and peace of mind. Thanks.

When using PF tek I always added a little extra water with no problems, because without this extra water my jars would constantly dry.  As for the water droplets, I would just turn the jars up side down and let some of that water spread around.  Sounds like you're well on your way to some finished jars though!

You're fine. My jars always had the same thing.

cool, that's what I was looking for. And Trav...I was gonna flip them a few days before birthing them just in case there are any little spots remaining on the top and/or bottom.

You can relax. It's normal if you see moisture in the jars twards the end, and it's also normal if you see the substrait fluu away from the glass alittle(shrinking)... It's all quite normal.
So, go ahead and relax your getting close and you seem to be ok on the jars.
