planning on buying didgeridoo
    #4672670 - 09/17/05 01:30 AM (18 years, 6 months ago)

i want to buy a nice didgeridoo. What should i look for when buying one? how can you tell if it is an authentic aboriginal didg compared to a mass produced one?

well i assume you want a Euca one....

so...there; really isn't many "mass produced" euca ones...but take a flash light look down the as far as your can,you should see all kinds of irregularities or maby oven chisel marks...

uhh,,really just depends on where you get it,but most nice places will play it over the phone for you,if they don't have a sound clip...

i ca give you some good sellers if you want?

whichever sounds best. Some one offered me a nice one for 200 and he asked for best offer. I could probably get it for 125-150. Is wood the best sounding didg?

yes, most certainly...but to be honest....(and i'm a wood worker) there's a LOt of nice sounding pvc and other such ones...for a great price...

i actually sold my euca one,,i only play my own ones i made, and Pvc if i'm out and about,now...

there's quite a few variables on it's "sound" but the guy sould know teh basic things about his didge: key,size/bell/mouthpeice...the basic basics,haha...

if you want one that sounds brilliantly wonderful go here http://www.didjshop.com/

expect to pay a bit of money, but what youll get is a beautiful instrument that is fucking booming.

ive been blowing on mine for three years and its the only thing thats kept me anywhere close to sane in a very crazy part of my life.

invest in a didj!

I got 3 didjeridoos. a PVC, a Bamboo, and a wooden (non-bamboo) didj. I get a louder drone with the PVC, but it doesnt have the same quality or timbre as the wooden and bamboo ones. The bamboo is probably my least favorite.
I have played on many didjes that are from Australia, which are ceremonial and truly traditional didjeridoo's, but they are a supreme bitch to get a soudn out of.
If you cant circular breath or dont know much about didjes, i would say get a cheap PVC one for 15-30 dollars. They are easier to get the proper sound from.
