Fear
    #4671609 - 09/16/05 11:31 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

Huehuecoyotl said,

Quote:

Fight or flight DOES have application in our society, but our media, our political, and religious leaders use fear to control the populace. This causes people to experience fight or flight at incorrect times due to the confused conditions under which they are being exposed to fear. Just look at the news everyday...fear mongering abounds. If you are made to feel fear all the time by conditioning you begin to express fear inappropriately and inconsistently

I think most people recognize these tactics and expect them from politicians.
It makes it very hard to watch the evening news though when they are yanking at your nads and it's laughing out loud funny when religious leaders do this.

Agreed. I quit watching news on TV years ago. Video is a powerful tool that is overused.

A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

I stopped watching Tv news all the time like 3 years ago. When you watch it now and then it easier to recognize the emotional roller coaster. Whee.

I think TV news should have warning labels like,

May cause heartburn, lack of sleep, and unexplained rashes.

No TV, radio, or newspaper here. Life got immeadately sunnier and more positive. Now I can't imagine why I went along with all that. I just never tried to do without it. I highly recommend the experiment.

Go for 8 weeks without media coverage. Then check in with your moods and outlook. Also you might notice when you check back in, it's sounds like the exact same news you checked out on 8 weeks ago. They don't fuckin need your attention!!!! You're off the hook if you choose.

when I watch the news they are usually talking about me behind my back, it makes me feel like a wax gargoyle, but I think it is good for my character to endure the abuse.

They do, story at five.

The story at five won't get told though, if it's the local TV. You'll see interveiws with neighbors and relatives, no facts. As Huehuecoyotl said
too much video.

I read news on google news everyday....but I only choose the headlines that I deem relevant. This controls my input and protects me from error filled output...sort of a manual firewall based on my ethics. If you process garbage on input, well your output will be processed garbage.

Maybe I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but you lost me on that one.

if they were pulling your leg you would know it
but when they pull you around by the nose, you gotta be a bit adjusted to notice that parts of your face have been stretched.
I keep pretty resiliant but don't edit them out.
