Relationships as Spiritual Practice

In my life, the true teachers are not those who put themselves forth as gurus, but those who interact with me in "everyday" ways.
My children, friends, partner, family members, neighbors, co-workers, Shroomerites, and even the sweet guy who delivers mail to my office--they are all working with me on my spiritual growth.
Part of this is my intention to use my experiences to apply the ideas I cherish, and part of it is the response others seem to have to my way of interacting with them. I endeavor to give them my "permission" to be real, to engage in more than the usual small talk, and to meet each other on a soul level.
In this way, I intermingle my internal spiritual work with my external spiritual practice.
When I remember that nothing is truly mundane, and that each interaction is an opportunity to express my truest self, I get to peek at the sparkling spirit inside the people I meet. What a treat!

You nailed it spot on! It's the everyday events that really determine where you are at. It's the place I often go into my sleeping robot routine and miss EVERYTHING .

Where is the Iceman?
Ah there's the Iceman. He looked up at the camera after he just finished his 400 page book on the intricacies of Quantum Mechanics and Physics, so as to prepare for his PhD exams at Harvard, and said the following..
"The fact that the voltage differential between inner and outer layers of a plasma membrane when an action potential is generated but doesnt cross threshold could pose a potential threat to the ultimatum of what is our dimensional space-time fabric continuum..." -IceMan

For some people, it is a frightening risk. To me, that's the psychedelic experience." Terence McKenna

to do this right in relationships you have to remember that it is your practice only that can be criticized by your practicing self.
partners and beings that are (in effect) your teachers, may be on different paths.
I mean relationships are usually governed by conditions that existed before decisions to transcend or seek higher knowledge.

I don't think they need be on the same path to be teachers for us, though. If I view everyone who interacts with me as a teacher, I do not change or criticize their actions, but alter my perception of their actions.
For example, my relationship with my ex-husband was formed prior to my intention to pursue higher knowledge and consciousness. If he came into my life now, I would not be attracted to him & thus would miss out on all the lessons I have learned from him. I am often led to criticize his actions, and feel some anger at him for being irresponsible, but I do not forget what a teacher he is for me.

I agree
most of the learning is patience kindness and how to share our toys and love
anyone who teaches us that has done a service it can be mutual but rarely is

IMO it is rare because we reject the experiences which contain the most un-learned information! They are often painful, wrenching, heart-breaking, disappointing, frustrating and enraging.
We are all offered the same lessons by those around us. The difference is in the student, not the teacher.
