Ok i have fairly long hair, i either have it out and kept out of my eyes with a headband or in a pony tail and use a headband aswell.
I got a cool headband from a Psy festival but want another one, anyone got any ideas? After a decent one, my current one is relatively thick and has different coloured lines around it (not in a tacky way)
Looked on ebay but cant find anything, anyone know what im on about?

Steal a headband from a tennis player (not a football player, they will run you down) and tie-dye it.

True, but I just tie it up in the back. Headbands don't suit me.

Search for dread bands on ebay. they should have some and they usually look pretty cool.

i just use those tiny elastic bands. They're real comfortable and don't pull your hair (too much..)

Cut your hair so its out of your eyes but leave the voluminous goodness. With any luck you may bear a striking resemblance to a young outlaw named Jim Morrison.

I've been contemplating the dreds myself... But only on the top half of my head, with the rest cut short, so I can leave em down and look normal without getting too hot, or tie em up and look like a freak.

That will work if you keep doing it. Try do do stuff like that whenever your hands are free. Also, just wash your hair with a residue free bar soap, like those clear facial soaps. No shampoo or conditioner. That should get you on the road to some nice dreads.

With dreads your scalp is guaranteed to be flakey and itchy anyway. I would just use that nutrogena facial soap stuff to wash them but any residue free soap should work.
I dreaded my hair in March but after a couple crazy mind fuck acid experiences though, I needed a drastic change and buzzed my head.

i've had dreads for a year and a half or so... i dig them. did the whole twisting, back-combing, rolling to form them, and then sea-water (for the salt, i guess), lemon juice (to ease the itching), and a lot of palm-rolling.
i wash them with all-organic soap (like Dr. Bronners) and have no problems.
and i just tie my hair back with... my hair!
