hunting in fields
    #4670532 - 09/16/05 05:49 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

just a quick one:

Im hunting liberty caps in UK. For some reason I always search the edges of the fields, and not concentrate in the centre of as much. Do shrooms (libertys mainly) grow all over fields, in slight tufts of grass in the centre of fields, or mainly just around the outside?

I say tufts of grass because I usually see non active (so far) mushrooms in them

Never hunted libs before, but cubes tend to hang out where there is the most humidity. ie: shade. I would imagine this holds true for all mushrooms.

i've found that the fungus likes to sit in little valleys where the moisture can collect. I myself also like to stick to edges, but never overlook the middle. I've heard of people finding libs out in the middle of nowhere (in a feild) just chillin in the grass... so i'd say to just make sure u've given ur whole area the search that it deserves... imagine how many mushrooms we've passed over cause we didnt look behind that log or under that branch.
