cacti trouble
    #4661523 - 09/14/05 06:15 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

I have a t. peruvianus that I recently had to cut a part off of due to rot. I lost the entire length of new growth that has grown since I got it!

Anyways, so I cut that part off, and was able to stop it from spreading, but now there is a spot on the middle of it that is like a round brown scab. At the edge of the scab there will appear a dark spot of rot, but that spot will quickly turn into another brown scab. Then the process repeats itself.

I don't know what's wrong. I think i should cut out the newly offending rot, but I don't know because it's on the side, not a length that can actually be cut completely off...

help!

Did you disect it on a rainy day? Did it rain the next week after you did the biopsey? Never take cuttings or damge the plant on wet weeks. It causes the wounds to not heal. Infections are much more mobile as well.

i don't believe it was a wet week. The wound healed up very nicely. Besides, I cut it weeks before this new spot even showed up!

so should I do some surgery or what?
