The phases of the S&P
    #4663764 - 09/15/05 04:35 AM (18 years, 7 months ago)

I used to post here in S&P all the time. Got kind of burned out on it, but I still peep in here every now and then. Lately, threads that arent philosophical or spiritual in any sense, have become predominate. I have seen atleast 5 or 6 in the last few weeks, which either:
1) complain about the "snobbery" of the "other" posters.
2) ask about why S&P is even here.
3) Talk about how boring and repetitive S&P has gotten.

Im sure this thread is even a worse example of the non-sequitir type threads that get away on the S&P, since it is talking about talking about S&P.

It seems that there comes a burst of either new members, or new spiritual breakthroughs for people, and the S&P is abuzz with ideology for a time. Then once every "new" topic has been exhausted, people start regurgitating the search engine pretty much which in turn exasperates some other people. So, with no brain food topics left, they start to turn in on each other talking about the pretentiousness of everyone but themselves, all the while calling anything previously discussed, trite.
So then some asshole comes along and writes a thread about "those" people, all the while being just as hypocritical in an attempt to expose the previous hypocrisy.
So that is where we are, i think. Im sure it repeats itself at some point.

I'm new to S&P (and the Shroomery in general), so I don't know how it used to be. One thing I do see is that the philosophy people tend to trounce over the spirituality people. I kind of wish those two groups could be split up a bit, because they're really not related.

I'm a person with a spiritual point of view betrothed to someone with a Master's in philosophy. If I want the kind of debate I see on these threads, I'll turn around in my computer chair and open my mouth.

My girlfriend has a Psych. major and is one of the most spiritual people I know. She and I have no trouble seeing a relationship between the two. But I will say my most beneficial exchanges are at home with her.

Psych and spirituality I can see, especially if she has a Jungian bent.

Now don't get me wrong, I have wonderful discussions with my fiance. It's just that sometimes his education acts as a roadblock to sharing, and that's something even he acknowledges. He says that's why he never went through with becoming a professor, which was his original intention. He said the world of Acedemia was a dry, competitive place.

We don't have too much of a problem in that area, because I am a HUGE GENIUS.

I think she likes Maslow. She does like cigars though. :penis:

Taking things OT here, but my fiance likes cigars, too!  He orders specialty cigars from Thompson Cigars, and even has a humidor.  He especially likes to smoke them on poker night.

I agree, especially when you're enclosed in a small area with the smell. However, he has his little pleasures, and I have mine. So while he's online ordering fine cigars, I'm ordering spores or salvia. As you say, to each his own!
