How long fresh?

I'm just curious how long shrooms could sit out fresh befor they went bad.. today is thanksgiving and I have family coming over I cant set my shrooms on the fan to dry.
Oh! and a thaught just crossed my mind. Say i want to preserve the few i picked till tomorrow would putting them in a pile of salt help preserve them? hehe like the indians and meat did or whoever? any suggestions are greatly appreciated

As far as i know you can leave them fresh for 2 or 3 days. Anyways, salt is a desiccant (ham and dried fish are dried in salt) and maybe it can be used to dry the shrooms. If you choose to try the salt, post your results!
