Keeping contaminated pieces?
    #4663967 - 09/15/05 10:08 AM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I had some jars of WBS get green mold on top.... but they had plenty of thick white clusters in the jars.... near bottom. Heres what I propose or rather have done and wonder if anyone else has tried.
I took out the chunks as carefully as possible and placed them all in a new clean jar. since myc when colinized is very cont. resistant do you think that i was able to save any? got enough chunks to make a small spawned case.

Generally it's not a good idea. When you mess with mold, the spores start flying around and have the potential to cause you problems later on. There is also health issues involved with breathing in the  mold spores  If you feel you must do it, do it either outdoors or in an isolated location, away from your growing supplies and wear a good mask. Since you've already done it, Good Luck!

Yes, open outdoors and try and grow outdoors only.

Yeah, be careful and let us know how it works. I myself am about to do a little experiment with green mold contams. We can compare notes in about a week. Me, i have 6 jars with green contam at opposites ends of the injection points, i'm going to do some clean cutting and then rejar.

i say if a jars contaminated toss it without opening
when you open it you are just going to jeopardize current and future grows
not worth trying to save a jar or 2
