Liquid Culture from Spore Print
    #4661908 - 09/14/05 09:37 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

I've looked at a lot of the articles and TEKs concerning the Karo/Honey/Etc... methods, and it seems it is always done with spore syringes. Right now my LC is coming along nicely (for which I used a spore syringe), but I was curious if it would be possible to do the same TEK with a spore print without going through the Syringe stage?

Yes, you simply scrape spores into the LC, you need a sterile work enviornment, I think LC's contaminate easier than anything besides agar.

Thanks for the info. I may give it a try once I've got my proper sterile techniques down

Sterile environment isn't absolutly necessary , though I'm shure it would greatly reduce the chance of contamination.

I got this method to work in my kitchen , I just scraped some spores from a print into the jar with an needle I sterilized with rubbing alcohol.
