anyone seen these? (type of air pump)
    #4661687 - 09/14/05 08:57 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

New Style of Air Pump

Has anyone had any experince with these for aeration? Seems to be a bit more stealthy than regular pumps since no hoses/wires will be in there (except for electrical cord.)

yes/no?

Thanks!

Nice its like a pump and an airstone all in one, looks like it does a better job of distributing air in water also, let us know how it goes.

Does it go completely below the gravel? From the description, it seems like you just put gravel around it to hid it. This wouldn't be good for a PMP or similar, because you need air coming from BELOW the geolite, perlite, etc.

An exclusive new concept in aquarium air pumps. Unlike other air pumps, the Ario is an in-tank aerator. Place it discreetly under gravel at the bottom of your tank, and enjoy an adjustable stream of bubbles. You hear nothing but the soothing sound of air bubbles, and your fish will appreciate the extra aeration. Air is pulled down through a length of tubing (included) and then emitted through a foam diffuser on the top of the pump.

still got the tubing, but it sounds interesting.
:peace:

Right, you still have the tubing, but the tubing is on the INSIDE of the chamber so you don't have it running INTO it from the outside, thus making people go....whuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut? lol

I have looked all over the net for info about these, but coulnd't find much. It seems like they would have to be submerged in water or else a risk of overheating/melting would occur. The submersion prolly has SOMETHING to do with it.

so what additional steps will you have to take to get fresh air in the tub. just pumping the same air around inside will not be the same as a FAE.

it does seem as though it needs to be fully submerged to work as directed. interesting, i'll bet you could set up some kind of a secretive setup so the tubing could draw air from the outside.

You still have to plug it in also, those things dont run on hopes and dreams.

yea, all you need is a drill bit....the tube can stick out a half in on the outside of the tub, know what I mean? All the other bulky wiring/tubing can be taped to the side of the tub on the inside.

I think I will pass on it though. It seems a bit too....unconventional. UNLESS, do you think it would be possible to submerge it in a tall glass of water instead of using perlite and bubble wands for aeration?

Well a power cord will still be easier to conceil than a power cord AND tubing, ya know? Since it will go straight into it. Boy I wish electricity traveled through air. lol.

Do you use air bubblers at all? Or just fanning?
