Washington Backyard Hunt
    #4661400 - 09/14/05 07:37 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Here are a few mushrooms I found just in my backyard and I know they are not hallucinogenic and I don't intend to ingest them but perhaps someone could identify them or enjoy the challenge.

Golden/Brown Caps Long White Skinny Stems Caps 1/2" to 2" Stems 1" to 4"

Huge Brown Caps 4" stems long brown and fat 5"

Well I had fun on this little hunt in my own backyard. It is 6 acres and most of it use to be a cow pasture.

As fuzzy as those first 2 photos are, who knows? They could be so many things it's not worth trying to guess.

The last 2 photos show specimens in the Lepiota genus. Those look a bit old and dried so a spore print will probably be impossible, but a gill view might answer the question of what color the spore print is. If greenish, those are Chlorophyllum molybdites, a very common, nasty, poisonous mushroom. If white they could be one of the edible Lepiota species, although they would be much too old to consider eating.

Happy mushrooming!

Chlorophyllum molybdites has never been reported from Washington state. The large (in focus) mushrooms are likely Macrolepiota rachodes.
