To the Bonnaroo music fests in Manchester, TN? How are they? I haven't been yet but I am gathering a small group of friends to plan a trip & head out there with me for '06. Anyone from here plan on going?

I went this year and last year. I most likely will not be there next year. Instead I will be hitting up other festivals.

Other festivals are good too Bonnaroo is an experience that's for sure But I do prefer a smaller, more intimate gathering

An expensive experience. Had I known about Wakarusa before buying my Roo ticket I would have said fuck Roo altogether.

somehow i got in the back entrance after paying a local 10 bux, but i didnt remember that i had my GPS on that logged the back road to the gate!!! hahahaha w were in in under half an hour.
also someone traded me a staff wristband, on saturday night i managed to drive my car all the way up to shakedown and 3rd, and steal power from the light towers, to run my turntables off of the back of my car!
oddly enough one of my friends that i had been looking for for days suddenly found me by following the music il be there next year, come hell or high water or exagerated ticket prices

yeah I got dropped off at walmart and was walking up the highway and was going to jump the fence into the camp area right off the highway... but then a state trooper picked me up and took me 2 miles down to the exit where all the cars were entering.. I had to fucking duck and run through this field and then trudge through thick woods at 2am for a mile or two. Jumped the fence after crossing a few rivers and made it into the RV area right before daylight. Then I bought a wristband off someone for 20 bucks.

Hey, to the people who have gone, experienced with this type of stuff. I've got a few people already who've jumped at the idea to go, hmm just a question of concern, is there any type of security, etc, that would make it difficult or troublesome at all to take things in?
I've never been to a festival like this, so I have no idea what to expect.

Let's put it this way.. I'd be more worried about the cops in tennessee pulling you over and searching you than the bonnaroo staff. There's no way in hell they can check every bag/car that comes into that place. The one time I drove in, they didn't check shit except for my wristband.
But serious about the glass bottles. Nobody likes walking barefoot on broken glass.

last year i brought in my glass blowing setup which included 2 giant o2 tanks, which could have easily been n2o tanks... along with many glass bottles of corona.
when they asked to search my car i said allright, with the tanks burried in the back seat while they were searching i worriedly asked, "do you need to search.. the trunk?" acting like i had somthing to hide in the trunk... they diverted their attention to it and never found the bottles or the tanks
so if you know how to work people, security is not a problem.

We tried to organize shit this year, but shit just didn't pan out so well. You know this already though. Right?
We need some better plans, that's for sure. That is, if I can make it, next year. What with the baby coming, and all. We may just hit up some smaller fests, after all.
