Cubes without rain?
    #4659100 - 09/14/05 12:24 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

My friends are visiting me at school this weekend and I really want to get my hands on some cubes. Unfortunately I will not be able to grow them in time (not even close), so I want to pick. It has not rained here in around a week (exactly I think), humidity has been around 50% I'd say, and it has been averaging 93? in the day. All my common sense says I will not find anything, but is there any hope?

well idk i doubt it but it all depends on where you live and what kind of active shrooms are in your area

It has yet to even be overcast much here yet this month, let alone rain. Likewise, the hunting has been pretty close to non-existant. Even in auto-watered areas, there is pretty much nothing going on.

Besides Katrina remenants, theres pretty much been no rain here for a couple months :P. It kinda sucks.

I've found cubes more than a week after rain, but not many at a time. Copelandias are a different story, though. I seem to find them whenever I go out within 7-9 days of rain. I find them when I don't find any cubes for months.

After the constant heat that we've had (and will be having for at least another waek), the mycelium is likely dead or very weak, and with low humidity the mycelial network will certainly die.
This signals the end of the Summer season, and the beginning of Fall. When the time comes, you'll know it.
As for this weekend, sorry...

Mycelia networks don't 'die' in drought..
If they did, do you really think we would be picking shrooms today?
No, under the dirt, they retain their moisture... Intense drought just means no fruit, and no colonization expansion...
You could always load up on gallon jugs and water your spot to get it to fruit.

Just to clarify, during the day humidity has been around 50 and at sunset around 85, so any chance for tomorrow night?

I find when I don't chase the mushrooms, and let them come to me naturally without worry, I am most blessed.
Where I live, there is a severe dry spell. My lawn has almost completely died. And that's the cycle. It's been this way for eons.
If you live where I live and hunted the forests for the summer spree, you will take the fact that such prizes as active mushrooms are slowly dying out, killing a season before it can even start, lightly.
Because what goes around will come around.. And there's always next year.

Don't listen to that fuckshit u have great weather.I find them even when it has not rained in a month. It mostly matters 'bout the conditions within the past 2 months.A week after rain is the best times for cubes but most don't know it. This pic was mine under an old name.Found these 2 weeks afer rain
