making my terrarium

It took a long time to get my jars covered, but it finally happened, and i'm finally ready to move them. So now, I am making my terrarium. I am using a big rubbermaid container. Have an ultrasonic humidifier, screen, perlite (i don't think i need this if i have the humidifier right?), hose for the humidifier, and a bunch of plexi glass.
I had a plan, but being my dumbass self, I didn't realize that the container's sides aren't perfectly straight and dont make a right angle. if i feed the hose from the humidifier into the box and tape it off at the top so that the moisture stays higher, will it matter if there is a gap of 3/4 of an inch on either side, or should i raise the glass up off of the bottom of the box so that there is no open space around the cakes.
I don't know if this all makes sense, but i have an idea in my mind if what it's supposed to look like, but not a clear idea as to how to make it all happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks y'all

youre right! it does make no sense :).
"will it matter if there is a gap of 3/4 of an inch on either side, or should i raise the glass up off of the bottom of the box so that there is no open space around the cakes."
how is there glass in there? try to elaborate but focus on key points. if it was me (unless you just went out and paid $50 for that humidifier) i would say screw the humidifier and go with just perlite and since youre prolly like the rest of us youre gonna look at your newborns at least every day so when you do just remove the lid and use it to fan once a day. line the bottom w/ perlite, add water, set some old jar lids down, place your cakes on lids and bam! setup is complete. thats basically my whole setup except i have a rubbermaid container that i flipped upside down. perlite on the lid and the container lifts up off the lid & cakes. makes air exchange easy as hell, just open and look at the cakes and while its open all teh CO2 gets out anyway. i dont see why more people dont keep the tubs upside down, it actually increases the area to use as the top is wider and thats where the cakes will go and plus its more convenient i think. just my 2 cents. if youd wanna use teh humidifier then cut a hole in your rubbermaid at the bottom of the container and caulk/tape/glue/whatever the hose to that.

Ok I'm a lot less high now so will try my question again. I finally found some boxes that work although there is a gap of about 1/3 inch on either side of the plexi glass screen.
Seeing that I have both pearlite and a humidifier should I use both rather than having to mist the terrarium every day? If I do use the humidifier, I should line the bottom with how much pearlite? 1.5 inches? then I should put the screen on top of that then the cakes on extra metal jar lids on top of that right?
In terms of the humidifier, what is the best way to hook it up to two boxes? I have hosing and splitters for the hoses, but how should i connect them to the humidifier (a vicks ultrasonic humidifier) and the terrarium?
Help on this would be greatly appreciated with this as I keep on finding contradicting info.
Thanks a lot!

" should I use both? "
There IS a lot of contradictory info regarding this, but, have you ever seen someone suggest use of perlite and a humidifier???
And,
I think you should do a little more research of your own before you
start asking the most basic questions about terrariums, as there is a TON Of
info regarding those,,,
I Bought a humidifier to, but I will use perlite cause like the other guy said,
you will prolly want to check your babies every day, least till you got so many mushrooms you are jaded!!! So don't even worry about the humidifier if you
are going to look at them daily.
Lay down some perlite, put in a drip shield. and GO!!!!
Terrariums are SOOOO less difficult than they seem at first.
Laters!
