Can you crumble PF cakes?
    #4658677 - 09/14/05 09:45 AM (11 years, 2 months ago)

If I were to crumble up some PF cakes, place them in a large tray inside a perlite terrarium and then top the tray off with a layer of vermiculite would this work just as well?

The reason I ask is because it would seem the best method for the amount of growth as you would have much more surface area.

You CAN use just verm, but you would have better results with some coir or something else added. But yes, PF cakes crumble just fine.

That's cool

Am I right in thinking that this extra surface area will produce better results in terms of mushroom growth than the cakes alone? Also would the shrooms be just as easy to grow using the same growing methods?

oh yeah...and how deep would the substrate and the casing have to be?

i have just done this in my grow log. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...0&fpart=all
Just make sure it is not too humid for the casing. this happened to me and i just transferred the casing to a clear plastic bag and it worked fine.

The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride... And we... kill those people.

You can spawn your cake with manure, and then add a peat based layer when the manure is colonized. It work great for me but grain is so much better.
