Sept. 13, 3005 ? Amid the chaos and confusion that engulfed New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina struck, a congressman used National Guard troops to check on his property and rescue his personal belongings ? even while New Orleans residents were trying to get rescued from rooftops, ABC News has learned.

Hopefully his political career will soon be over with. I can't see him getting many votes in the next election. But it wouldn't really surprise me if people were stupid enough to reelect him again. As long as it isn't a Republican some people will continue to elect crooks, thieves, and people who are only interested in increasing their own influence and power.

The politicians in my state legislature voted themselves a 16-34% pay increase (of course this happened late at night and there was no debate about it). These guys get free health care, free cars, mileage reimbursement for these cars (even though they don't own them!), and on and on. They are fucking thieves. Unfortunately, most of them will also probably be reelected.

Who wouldn't like a 34% pay increase?

Even if they don't get reelected, they still get the huge pension checks for the rest of their life.

That's right, I forgot to mention their pensions. They also probably get tons of other perks as well.

That is allways the way it works. Whenever these guys vote themselves a raise it is allways in the wee hours of the morning. It is like they actualy think that nobody is going to find out about it.

34 % pay raise. That is a helluva raise.
