I too have some cuttings on the way.

I was planning on following this guide:

http://www.erowid.org/plants/cacti/cacti_preparation5.shtml

I'd be cool to grow but I know not how yet really.

If, they will be moved inside in the late autumn, no prob.
If your growing outside, it will depend where you live, I move mine inside in winter.

They can survive light frost I believe, after all they are from the Peruvian mountains. But whether your cutting stays outside or comes inside for the winter, water it very, very sparingly. Maybe two or three times all winter. And keep the light to a minimum if inside. These two things will help it go into dormancy and rest, before the next year's long and healthy growing season. So your cutting won't get much growth at all this year, just let it chill and establish roots. Then come spring, new growth will emerge and that's when you give it lots of love and water and (re)introduce it to lots of sunlight. Good luck!

You shouldn't have any problem establishing it indoors, given that you have room, if you don't feel condicions are suitable outside.
