What I Don't Understand Is...
    #4656510 - 09/13/05 08:35 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

When making flat casings why do people put a 50/50 over there crumbled up cakes when the cakes already colonized. In a pf-tek grow people dont put a 50/50 over there cakes so why must it be done in a flat casing.
I hope that made sense , im kinda stoned.

because the casing layer provides moisture to the myc as it produces fruits. and what do shrooms love....water. they are around 90% water.
there wouldn't be much diff in the cake and the crumbled cake if you didn't add the casing layer. hell cakes are better after being rolled in vermiculite, why? helps hold in the moisture.
:peace:
