Does inoculating requieres the most??
Or does casing requiere the most????
right now im in the colonizing step, so at least im there..
im wondering about the caseing sterilty? sice i havnt been there yet-
does this step require the most or what??

first of all, i know that the 3 of these requier good steriltiy

Everything up to inoculation takes the most, my colonizing jars sit on a dusty water heater.
You should practice under semi sterile conditions though, one contam can wipe out everything you have.

i would go with innoculating jars. using a cheap home made glove box works wonders. you dont have to worry about sterilty when mixing subs if you use a pc but remember to properly clean your subs especially wbs.

when inoculating your jars is when someone is most susceptible to having contaminants enter your newly sterilized jars. Good luck!

When jars are fully colonised is when you can be ok as far as contams
You need to be as sterile as possible thru the whole grow

I haven't been growing long so all my contams have been by inoculation.

I would say that is crazy! Casing is one of the times that can make or break a grow. Even with sterilized casing soil, you can easily get contams by not being clean when you fan and mist. Keeping the casing too moist will also cause problems.

Preparing the sub requires no sterility at all, since it has yet to be sterilized. inoculation requires the most since your substrate is a nice nutritious food ready for any spores that land on it the grow, be they cubensis or mold.

FooManShroom is right in the fact that it can ruin a grow which is upsetting after waiting all the time to colonise and prepare casing.

When colonised the mycelium is strong and can fight off competitor spores that land on it and germinate. You still need to be clean though.

But if you open a colonised jar an uncolonised jar in a room with dirty air for 10 seconds, then put the lid back on I would bet money that the uncolonised jar will show contamination within the week and the colonised jar will not within the week.

And I hate gambling

I have seen it recommended to use a casing of 8-8.5ph which will help stop green mold.
