Vets please take a look at my jars NEED HELP!(pics)
    #4656316 - 09/13/05 07:48 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

I Inoculation my jars maybe two weeks ago. I did it using many different batches because this is my first time and I didn't want one problem to carry over to every jar. So I had 4 batches of lipi yai strain. They were slow to start to colonize. There were the first initial white fuzz at the Inoculation points and that was it. No, Rhizomorphic grow, just fuzz. The ropie Rhizomorphic grow kicked in and hard. The thing that REALLY bothers me is that. The first signs of Mycelium grow wasn't very big, maybe a dime before the Rhizomorphic mycelium kicked and and started spreading fast! The original mycelium grow didn't grow and it's color dulled. Take a look!

I would normally throw this away but before I got a bad syringe that was infected with green mold. That mold was very easy to distinguish. This though is exactly were the original mycelium was nothing has change in terms of growth just discoloring. It makes me wonder if maybe this stopped growth is why it changed color. Maybe a loss of moisture at the growth? Here is another picture closer up!(sorry the lightning makes it look more yellow!)

The Rhizomorphic mycelium is growing quit nice though, even sometime throw the older original growth. Here is a closer picture of the original spot of inoculation were the fuzzy mycelium grew and then totally stop and dulled in color. The flip side of this jar is booming with Rhizomorphic mycelium!

I looked at contamination pictures and saw nothing close in appearance.

Its normal for mycelium to start that way, its hard to tell from those pics but nothing looks contaminated again, have patience see what happens.

thanks a lot. I was not wanting to throw them away after the time spent into them. Those two jars have 13 bothers that are 1/2 pints I plan to use the traditional PF Tek for birthing w/ perlite. I recently got 4 quart jars and I am planning to use rye or wild bird seed for the fast colonization time and shot them up with my new treasure coast strain I just received. After that I don't know. I am leaning toward straw because of it's easy availability.

Sometimes it takes a long time for one side to reach the other totally uncolonized side. + I think in the presence of myc. the spores are activated and make the vacant side grow faster if youve got the patience

I do hope this works out well. I have read for three months before making the move to try to start my own cultivation!

Shrooms are almost too easy to grow. Me and my buddies thought this was funny after a while so we started useing less than 1/2 pint jars so that they would colonize and produce fruits faster, and without as much risk of contamination. This turned out to be correct, although when useing little tiny jars they dont always stand up on their own, and big fat shrooms can easily weigh them down and cause them to fall over and damage useful primordia.
It was a funny experiment though. And very useful if ya want a good fruit in weeks less than inoculating 1/2 pinters.

Also, with this kind of growth pattern sometimes a dime sized part is never colonized untill you take action yourseld by fuiting it but not before branding the uncolonized portion with a searing hot pocket knife. The humidity an oxygen content of your grow area should be sufficiant to make the remainder grow over

just kick back, relax and do a :bongload:. then another and another and another.....
wait until they are completely colonized before you do anything, you have got a great start there so be patient.
make sure you do a dunk and roll before you go to fruiting.

as for the straw, hmmm...haven't heard to many good things about just straw. Now horse shit, that is just as readily available.

heres to many successful harvests :toast:

:peace:

I do plan on dunk and rolling the cakes when done colonizing. Should I put them in the frig while dunking? I do not have a PC so sterlizating horse shit would be a mess I would think and smell something awful right?

Stemmer dont give advice like that again, what you suggested would probably fuck his grow to hell if he did what you told him to do
You need to read some more and dont give advice until you are 100% certain that you know what you are talking about

White Bunny your stuff is fine 5 shroom rating for you, I love newwbies that do their reading/homework

no don't put them in the fridge during the dunk, this can cause delayed pinning by stalling the myc.
as for the poo smell, no none really to worry about. don't sterilize the poo, pasturize it. there are beneficial organisms in the poo that will help keep contams at bay until the myc colonizes.
best of luck

You live in the panhandle which is probably the best cubensis hunting in North America, your potency doesnt vary as much when you grow them yourself
Have you ever chowed down on a maggot filled cap? i have

no maggot filled cap but there are three college with 10 miles so the fields around my area have been heavily pick over.  Also they have been picked by people who do not respect the farmers land so Farmer are very happy or willing to let someone on there land for any reason.  I always ask for permission to avoid the handing night hunts.  I have ran into several people hunting before on the same field!  I think it would only take one maggot filled shroom to make me be a cultivator!

My icon picture was found in between Ocala and Gainesville the magic mushroom mecca :mushroom2:
p.s - How do these rating work?  Is there a link to show how many you need to advance up the ranks?

You have a 5 shroom rating so thats as good as it gets, You can get trade ratings {the green shroms} if you do a person right with a trade

is there another forum to trade prints or syringes. I happen to have a lot of needles that are packaged separately that I have left over from a workout steroid phase in college a few years ago. Are prints received from private people trust worthy for not being contaminated?
- Do the white mushrooms on the top row count for anything different?
