is it normal for the shrroms
    #4651313 - 09/12/05 05:07 PM (18 years, 5 months ago)

a friend was wonderin if its normal for the fist ten shrooms to grow on the edges of the container, he spawned on straw, cased with 50/50 mix of verm and peat, not much acticity in the middle, is this normal, what is the cause of this, everything he did was perfectly sterile and by the book..

so once again why, and is it normal for the first ten shrooms to grow on the sides of the container....

Maybe its because the pins had more room to grow there? not exactly sure but it shouldnt be a problem.

It could be because he didn't have the substrate and casing layers perfectly level and inadequate water delivery.

Could be because the myc starts crawling up the sides of the container while colonizing

would there be a better way of layering the spawn/substrate between the other layers of straw/50-50 so that the myc comes up thru the top instead of the sides?
