I want to start growing so could some of you tell me what kind of setup you have, what you are using to humidify (is perlite good?), what kind of substrate are you using, any casing?, what kind of yeilds do you get and with what strains? any help would be greatly appreciated.
-------------------- Ya want me to throw this thing into the tub when white rabbit peaks?

large rubbermaid tub with 6" of water and a submirsable 50watt fish tank heater ($12) in it. i have a smaller rubbermaid tub sitting in the warm (82 degree) water and in that second tub is where i keep my jars warm and clean and dry. by dry i mean not floating in water but it is quite humid in there and prevents my jars from drying out due to micron magik filter disks. i have a second rubbermaid tub about 1.5 by 1.5 feet by about 9 inches tall for fruiting. the fruiting chamber has a lid that connects on one side so it swings open, not just pops off. it is also clear with a white lid so i turn it upside down and put perlite in the lid and when i open it the whole tub opens up giving good air exchange, rather than having all the CO2 sit on the bottom and have to be fanned out. i also have 1/2" by 3/8" weatherstripping between the lids and the tubs to keep my warmth/moisture in each chamber. 3 big tubs + water heater+ weatherstripping + perlite = about 60 bux for a huge setup that accomodates about 12 growing cakes or 4 or 5 casings at a time and about 24+ half pint jars in my incubator. i just set this up very recently so i cannot verify the results but it really looks promising.

i missed the last part; like my posts arent long enough. i currently have 2 casings that i started last night from 4 matias romero BRF/verm cakes that were crumbled and miked with a mixture of finch seed, whole brown rice, and hay cobb. actually i shorted a little substrate and didnt have enough for the second one so i mixed in BRF and verm into the 2nd one to make up the difference. both substrates are about 1.5-2" thick cased very loosely 1/2" with peat/verm. I also have 2 quart jars going with pan cyan in them and one lipa yai quart jar and all 3 are also BRF/verm. i do have one more quart jar with brown rice/finch/hay cobb and lipa yai in it but it is way too wet and has been going for upwards of 2 months now. it dries out on the top layer and the bottom is always too wet to colonize but there is a layer accross the top that always has myc on it and i use that as a culture to make more jars which i will do tomorrow when i finally have a fuckin day off. im currently working on mattias romero, maztecs, and lipa yai thailands. i cannot give results on the vields yet but it does look very promising with these 2 casings and 2 cakes i have birthed right now to see about 1/2 oz dry in the next 2 weeks or so.
