Why arent they colonizing?
    #4650194 - 09/12/05 02:34 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Today is the fourth day with my 3 strains (B+, lipi yai, and elephant dung) The b+ is colonizing fine id say about 1/4 of the 1/2 pint jar is already colonized. Now my elephant dung and lipi yai have not colonized at all they are in the same size jars and with the same amount of vermiculite and brown rice flour? What do you thing the problem is also when I looked at the b+ syringe i could see black specs but the other ones i couldn't I ordered from THG any thoughts should i just wait longer and how long is too long?

4 days is early for multi-spore inoculations.

your lucky that your B+ is doing so well.

have a little patience...the others will kick in soon.

Patience my friend. I've had jars that didn't show signs of growth for a week. It happens sometimes. About the syringe, when you see blacks spots, you're looking at thousands of spores. Just because it's clear doesn't mean there aren't any spores in it.

I am having the same problem. I have six jars and only two of them are colonizing. If I put to much spore solution into a jar will it keep it from colonizing?

I had 10cc's and divided it up between six jars. Same thing I did last time. It's only been six days. It's been awhile since I tripped so aybe I'm just being impatient. :/

10cc In 6 Jars ? That sounds like way to much. you can easily inoculate 12 Half pint jars. You can also inject 1cc into 1 pint rye jars and do 10 of those.

I too recently order lipi yai from TLG and it took a little while for the first signs of colonization. I also wasn't able to see the spores in the syringe.
